A comical look behind the scenes as Mozart creates an opera, and has to compromise – his art, or the Emperor’s money? A finely-tuned parody of 18thcentury court entertainment … and life.

This musical marionette production, inspired by a true story from Mozart’s life, recounts the troubles Mozart had in putting on his little-known opera The Theatre Director for the emperor’s guests and at the same time shows the hardships faced by the artist, who was forced to find a compromise between creative freedom and the need to earn his living.

The graceful marionettes tell their story with humour, illustrated with magical moments of shadow theatre, captivating spectators with their charm and verve.
